NBA YoungBoy in 2018

YoungBoy Never Broke Again took things to a new level in 2019 with his mixtape AI YoungBoy 2, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 - his first release after some jail time served earlier that year due to a parole violation. The new era kicked off with the single "Slime Mentality," which plainly addressed some of his struggles and the hard-edged life he leads.

There's just one question for the new guys out there: what is "slime"? No, we're not talking green stuff on Nickelodeon - it means something different. Slime, as coined by iconic Queens rapper N.O.R.E. and referenced by everyone from Young Thug (who's got several mixtapes and releases referencing Slime) to Lil Uzi Vert, means something different - and pretty simple.

Turns out, it just means your closest friends, your tightest homies. When YoungBoy raps about his slime, he's talking about his ride or dies, the ones who are with him in good times and bad. And there's nothing slimy about that.
