Megan Thee Stallion has opened up about the shooting she was involved in back in 2020.
The "Savage" rapper spoke with Gayle King of CBS News for an in-depth and emotional discussion of the incident on July 15, 2020, when she, rapper Tory Lanez and another woman left a party; during their departure, a disagreement ensued that resulted in Lanez' arrest on gun charges and Megan receiving surgery to remove bullet fragments in both her feet.

Megan explained that the argument ensued over her wanting to leave the party early; when tensions escalated, she asked the driver to pull over - and that's when she said Lanez opened fire. "So I get out of the car and it's like everything happens so fast," she recalled. "And all I hear is this man screaming. And he said, 'Dance, bitch.' And he started shooting. And I'm just like, 'Oh, my God.' Like, he shot a couple of times. And I was so scared."
She also says her initial claim that she was injured by broken glass - a claim somewhat refuted by the presence of bullets in her body - was a lie to avoid escalation not by Lanez, but the Los Angeles Police Department. (The incident occurred only weeks after George Floyd was killed by cops.) "I was just trying to protect all of us because I didn't want them to kill us," she explained. "Even though this person just did this to me, my first reaction still was to try to save us. Like, I didn't want to see anybody die."
While this claim has been used against her - and Lanez continues to assert his innocence as his assault charges move closer to trial - Megan asserts that her truth will out. "I know this happened to me and I'd rather it play out in court and the facts come out and everything comes out than me having to plead my case," she said. "I'm a victim...I'm not defending myself against anything."
