In the nearly 50 years Saturday Night Live has been on the air, only a handful of performers have simultaneously served as host and musical guest. Lizzo is the latest to be added to that list, with her just-announced appearance scheduled for the series' April 16 episode.

The "Truth Hurts" hitmaker first appeared on SNL in 2019, as the musical guest on an episode hosted by legendary former cast member Eddie Murphy, his first appearance on a regular episode in 35 years. Her double duty was announced alongside appearances by first-timers Jerrod Carmichael and Gunna as host and musical guest on April 2, and second-time host and musical guests Jake Gyllenhaal and Camila Cabello as host and musical guest for the April 9 episode. Others performing simultaneous host/musical guest duty in the past include Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Bruno Mars, Donald Glover and, most recently, Billie Eilish.

Lizzo has been keeping busy in recent months, premiering a new single, the Cardi B-featuring "Rumors," in the summer of 2021 and developing an unscripted competition series for Amazon, Watch Out fot the Big Grrrls, set to premiere March 24.
