Two influential hip-hop acts of the '90s and '00s are among the 17 nominees (and among the first-time potential inductees) in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022.
A Tribe Called Quest and Eminem are the rap acts up for potential induction into the Cleveland-based organization. It is the first nominee for either - and Eminem is the only of this year's prospective class to be nominated in his first year of qualification. (His independent debut album came out in 1996.)
Among the other acts up for induction are first-time nominees Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon and Beck; plus Dionne Warwick, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Devo, Rage Against the Machine, New York Dolls, The MC5, Kate Bush and Fela Kuti. Once again, fans can participate in a daily fan vote open through April. The final list of inductees will be announced in May, with a public ceremony to take place this fall.
